American soprano Jemeesa Yarborough is recognized for her commanding stage presence, radiant vocal artistry, and deeply expressive performances. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, she has built a dynamic career spanning opera, oratorio, and symphonic repertoire, captivating audiences across the United States and Europe with performances distinguished by technical excellence, musical sensitivity, and compelling storytelling.

Yarborough's operatic career continues to flourish through a diverse repertoire of both beloved classics and contemporary works. She made her national debut with Piedmont Opera in Robert Ward's The Crucible before making her European debut in the title role of Puccini's Suor Angelica. This performance showcased both her vocal richness and dramatic depth. A familiar presence on North Carolina stages, she has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Opera Wilmington, where her portrayal of Mimì in La Bohème earned particular acclaim for its warmth, vulnerability, and emotional resonance. Her most recent appearance with the North Carolina-based company included a highly praised run as Santuzza in their production of Cavalleria Rusticana; The Cultural Voice of North Carolina applauded her "huge voice" and "commanding stage presence."

Equally at home on the concert stage, Yarborough has appeared as a featured soloist in major choral-orchestral works, including Mahler's monumental Symphony No. 2 ("Resurrection") and The Fauré Requiem. A highly accomplished vocalist, Yarborough has received numerous honors throughout her career, including being a semi-finalist in both the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition and the Gulio Gari Foundation. Yarborough also claimed first prize in the Heafner/Williams Vocal Competition and multiple district awards from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She has further refined her artistry through participation in prestigious training programs such as Opera Saratoga and the Savannah Music Festival, experiences that have helped shape her as a versatile and engaging performer.
